What are Monserrate's opening hours?

Monserrate is open Monday to Saturday from 6:30 AM to 10:00 PM, Sundays from 5:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and holidays from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The pedestrian trail is open every day except Tuesdays (closed for maintenance): you can start ascending between 5:00 AM and 1:00 PM, and must be descending by 4:00 PM.

How much does a Monserrate ticket cost?

Tickets cost $35,000 COP per person and include the round-trip ride by funicular or cable car. Children under 1 meter tall enter free. On Sundays a reduced fare of $21,000 COP applies, available at the physical box office at the site.

How do I get to Monserrate?

The base station is in the Egipto neighborhood in downtown Bogotá. Take TransMilenio to Av. Jiménez station and then a taxi or Uber (~5 minutes). By car it's about 20 minutes from downtown.

Can I hike up to Monserrate?

Yes. The pedestrian trail is open every day except Tuesdays (closed for maintenance). You can start ascending between 5:00 AM and 1:00 PM, and must be descending by 4:00 PM. It's 2.5 km with a steep incline and takes about 1 hour — wear comfortable shoes and bring water.

Do children pay for a ticket?

Children under 1 meter tall enter free. Above that height, regular ticket prices apply.

Are pets or drones allowed at Monserrate?

No. Pets and drones are not allowed at Monserrate Hill.

What's the difference between the funicular and the cable car?

Both take you to the summit in just a few minutes. The funicular is a rail-based train that climbs inside the mountain; the cable car is an aerial cabin with panoramic views. With your ticket you can choose either upon arrival, subject to availability and weather conditions.

Do I need to book in advance?

It's not required, but we recommend buying online to skip ticket-counter queues and guarantee your spot, especially on weekends and holidays.
